Devil Magnets Product Information

This page serves as the product information document for the Devil Magnets 881LB (400KG) Fishing Magnet Kit

SAFETY WARNING:

In the vertical axis, this Devil Magnets product is able to exert a peak strength of 881 pounds (400 kilograms). This can produce BONE FRACTURES and PINCH INJURIES. Keep your fingers and other appendages away from the face of the magnet when in use.

KEEP THIS PRODUCT AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND PETS
KEEP THIS PRODUCT AWAY FROM INDIVIDUALS WITH PACEMAKERS.

Magnets have an extremely short range of effect which means the magnet can accelerate itself from a standstill with incredible velocity (in less than 2.5cm). In some cases, this can result in broken fingers or pinched skin.

STUCK MAGNET PROTOCOL:

If your magnet is stuck and you are able to access it, the best way to remove it is to use a rubber mallet to gently tap it FROM THE SIDE. The lateral strength of the magnet is only about 25% of its vertical strength which means gently hitting it from the side is often enough to dislodge it.

If your magnet is stuck and you are not able to access it, you can still likely dislodge it simply by pulling it with the rope.

EXTREME CAUTION is required when removing stuck magnets with the rope attached. As mentioned earlier, the effectiveness of a magnet has virtually no gradient which means the magnet can SUDDENLY RELEASE and STRIKE NEARBY OBJECTS or CAUSE INJURY.

KNOWN ISSUES:

All fishing magnets, not just ours, suffer from a universal set of issues which consumers should be aware of.

1. THREADED CONNECTION LOOP

Due to the strength of the magnet, large amounts of torque are often placed on the metal loop located on the topside of the magnet. Because this loop is threaded into the magnet, it's possible for this loop to become loose over time which can result in the loss of your magnet.

Our solution to this problem is to apply Red LocTite® to the threads prior to shipment. Other companies may choose to use a different brand of threadlocker or may not use threadlocker at all. We believe LocTite® is the most reputable brand of threadlocker which is why we chose to use it.

It's wise to gently tug on the loop every now and then to verify that it is not loose.

2. CORROSION

Because of their high iron content, magnets are inherently corrosive. There is no good solution to this problem. The exterior of the magnet is coated in a layer of nickel and copper which dramatically helps reduce any corrosive tendencies.

With that being said, prolonged exposure to corrosive environments (like saltwater) will likely break down this coating and result in the eventual corrosion of the magnet. This generally occurs over the period of several years and is not an acute risk. To prevent this, it is best to DRY YOUR MAGNET once you are finished using it for the day. If you have used it in saltwater, you should rinse it with freshwater prior to drying it.

3. BRITTLENESS

Neodymium magnets are not necessarily fragile but they can be brittle. Under normal circumstances, the average consumer does not have to worry much about cracking their magnet. However, it's important to understand that slamming the magnet against another magnet or another hard surface can result in the magnet cracking in half.

WARRANTY:

Your magnet is covered by a one year (365 day) warranty starting from the day of purchase. This warranty only covers the magnetization of the magnet. It does not protect the carabiner, rope, or any other accessory.

If your magnet suddenly demagnetizes, we will replace it at no cost to you.
