IRIS Infrared Night Vision Monocular 1X Digital PVS-14

The IRIS is the most sophisticated digital night vision monocular we have ever made. Modeled directly after the AN/PVS-14, the design is perfect for both 'hands free' and handheld applications. 

The IRIS has no zoom or magnification. It's a fixed 1X perspective with a 60 degree wide angle field-of-view. It also has remarkably low latency (less than 10 milliseconds) which makes it perfect for helmet-mounted operations.

It is powered by integrated rechargeable batteries and has proprietary firmware which allows the user to adjust screen brightness, screen contrast, and crosshair positioning.

The IRIS is unique in that it uses a 1.54" OLED display in conjunction with a magnifier. The magnifying tube allows the user to view the screen from a distance, at a larger resolution, using either one eye or both eyes. This design can accommodate a large variety of viewing preferences.

Background Information

In our opinion, the IRIS is not only sophisticated but also extremely practical. The design was specifically chosen to resolve many issues thought to be intrinsic to digital night vision.

For example, the larger field-of-view effectively eliminates the need for continuous focusing of the lens. While the IRIS is still in fact a manually focusing device, the vast majority of operations will not require the device to be focused away from 'infinity'. In other words, it's set and forget — very similar to a PVS-14.

It features a modernized 940nm illuminator, a 60 FPS frame rate, and can even be used while charging. 

The IRIS is sold as a complete kit. It includes the monocular, a rubber head strap, a mounting arm, and charging cable. The IRIS can be used out-of-the-box with the included head strap. It can also be used as a handheld device. However, if you wish to use it with your own helmet, you will have to purchase your own mounting plate (a standard GoPro mount works). If you want to mount it to anything else, you will also have to purchase your own mounting accessories.
