The IRIS is a head-mounted 1X digital night vision monocular built in the PVS-14 form factor — the same layout trusted by military and law enforcement worldwide. Analog units in that form factor start around $3,000. The IRIS delivers hands-free, walk-around night vision for a fraction of that, and it's honest about the trade-offs (more on that below).
This is not a magnified spotting scope. It's built for movement — walking trails, checking your property, navigating in the dark with both hands free.
Built for movement, not just spotting
Most digital night vision monoculars are magnified spotters: fine for watching a deer at 100 yards, useless for walking a trail or moving through a building. The IRIS is built around a 1X wide-angle lens that gives you a natural, responsive, unmagnified view comparable to your own eyes.
- 60° wide-angle field of view — most digital NV offers 7–15°. The IRIS gives you real peripheral awareness for navigation and movement.
- Sub-10ms latency — high-latency digital NV creates a disconnect between your head movement and what you see, causing disorientation and motion sickness. The IRIS feels transparent in motion.

About the controls
The IRIS uses compact buttons to keep the housing small and helmet-safe. They're sized for fingertips, not gloves — if you run gloves at night, thin shooting or mechanix-style gloves work well; heavy winter gloves don't.

What the IRIS isn't
- It is not Gen 3 analog night vision. A $3,000+ PVS-14 will outperform it in extremely low light without IR, and analog has zero display latency by nature. - It is not a weapon sight. The IRIS is for recreational and observational use only. It is not rated for recoil and is not a military device.
- Image color varies with conditions. Dark, low-light-pollution environments produce a monochrome black-and-white image. Moonlight, starlight, or urban light pollution produce a blue hue. This is normal for all digital night vision.

FAQ
Does it work in complete darkness? Yes. With the built-in 940nm IR illuminator on, the IRIS works in zero-light environments — inside a windowless room, under dense canopy, anywhere. The 940nm wavelength produces no visible glow at the emitter.
Can I mount it to a helmet? Yes. The IRIS is compatible with GoPro-style NVG shrouds and standard J-Arm/Rhino/Dovetail setups. A rubber head strap is included for use without a helmet.
How long does the battery last? 2–3 hours per internal charge. For longer sessions, run it from any USB-C power bank — a standard 10,000mAh bank in your pocket powers it all night.
Is this as good as a real PVS-14? No, and we won't pretend otherwise. Analog Gen 3 units outperform digital in extreme low light and have zero latency — they also cost $3,000+. Where does it ship from? Our US warehouse in Boston. Orders generally ship within 2 business days. We've been manufacturing, warehousing, and shipping optics entirely in-house for 10+ years.
What's the warranty and return policy? The item is warrantied for one year against manufacturer defects and/or flaws. Customers have 60 days to return the product if they are not satisfied with it. We will cover the cost of return shipping.
