Vulcan Thermal Infrared Night Vision Monocular
The VULCAN is a handheld digital monocular which offers both thermal imaging capabilities and digital night vision capabilities. It is one of the most advanced devices we have ever produced. Similar to the IRIS, the bulb on the topside of the device is part of our proprietary 940nm near-infrared module which provides the digital night vision functionality. The bottom of the device contains our newest thermal imaging module which provides the thermal imaging capabilities (day or night)
The thermal core is suitable for short to medium range heat signatures. Depending on the size and signature of the target, observational limits are approximately 900 feet for humans/large animals and approximately 2500 feet for automobiles.
How Does The VULCAN Differ From Other Devices?
Thermal night vision and digital night vision both have advantages and disadvantages intrinsic to the technology. For example, thermal is often known for providing high contrast images at the expense of resolution. On the other hand, near-infrared digital can provide a much higher resolution image but often lacks contrast.
The VULCAN allows the user to instantly switch between these two technologies and enjoy the best of both worlds. To the best of our knowledge, there is no other product on the market which combines two different night vision technologies into a single device.

With 11 different viewing modes (9 thermal palettes, 1 near-infrared monochromatic mode, and 1 standard color mode), the VULCAN is one of the most dynamic and versatile observational devices currently on the market.
Optical Specifications
The VULCAN offers a 60° FOV in near-infrared digital night vision mode and a 35° FOV in thermal mode. There is no zoom or magnification. Just like the IRIS, the VULCAN is a 1X perspective, wide-angle, FPV device.
Battery Specifications
The VULCAN uses a rechargeable 2000mAh lithium-ion battery. In thermal mode, it offers approximately 90 minutes of uninterrupted use on a single charge. In near-infrared digital mode, it offers approximately 3 hours of uninterrupted use.
Charging is performed via USB-C

The VULCAN is not a fusion device. The two operating modes, thermal night vision and digital night vision, can not be overlaid on top of each other and used at the same time. Switching between the modes is very simple and only requires the press of a button; however, only one mode can be active at any given time.
The VULCAN is protected by a limited one year warranty guaranteeing it to be free from manufacturer defects. In the event of a device failure, TAKLITE will replace your unit free of charge. All warranty service is performed within the boundaries of the United States.
